Association of Mental Health Librarians
Greetings!
Please join us and your colleagues for the AMHL Conference this October 1-3 in San Francisco. It will be an opportunity to connect and reconnect with your fellow Librarians serving patrons in mental health settings.
The Conference theme, Your Library: Still the Same, Completely Different, reflects the values which drew most of us to the profession, and sets the stage for exploration of the ongoing changes and developments impacting our work. Among the various information professions, librarianship is the most committed to information delivery as a service. This value has pervaded our work for decades. Yet the tools with which we provide service, the questions being asked, even the information seeking behavior of patrons have changed and continue to evolve. Over the first weekend of October, speakers will address these and many other changes, vendors will have an opportunity to tell us of their latest products, and we will share with each other our values, our experience of change, and our solutions.
It will also be a time to socialize with each other and enjoy San Francisco, one of the most beautiful cities in the world. We will meet at Hotel Adagio, just off Union Square, where lunch will be hosted by American Psychiatric Publishing. On Friday evening, Hurwich Library of Alliant International University will host a reception after which Conference attendees can take advantage of the many restaurants and attractions of Fisherman’s Wharf. A banquet will be held Saturday evening at the Beach Chalet, and we’ve arranged for the sun to set over the Pacific Ocean as we arrive for dinner.
We anticipate a Conference where we can increase our professional knowledge, get to know our colleagues, and have a wonderful weekend together. We look forward to seeing you there.
